FIVE STAR SHOOTOUT SERIES POINTS JUMBLED GOING INTO ROUND THREE ON AUGUST 7th

The point standings in the Five Star ShootOut Series were jumbled after the most recent series race on Saturday, July 3rd.  A few drivers that had seen success at the series first race this season were either absent or struggled at the holiday weekend show.  New points leaders emerged in several of the divisions and now are positioned to take home a season honor this September.

West Georgia Speedway offers a couple of opportunities to win a season title.  There is the most coveted title of ‘Track Champion’ which is decided by who accumulates the most points during the regular scheduled races from April until the championship night in September.  There is also the Five Star Chrysler Dodge Jeep of Warner Robins ShootOut Series titles that are up for grabs.  This series allows drivers to accumulate points only on the night’s of the ShootOut Series events.  It creates the opportunity for drivers to join the racing action on a limited basis and still run for a title and honor.

“Its a series within a series,” explained promoter Mayes Massey.  “The points a driver earns at the ShootOut events does not go towards the track season points titles, so it kind of mixes it up a bit.  Plus, thanks to Five Star there is some cash awarded to the top ShootOut Series drivers in the Country Financial Crate Late Models and the Summit Racing Equipment Late Model Sportsman.”

Two Five Star ShootOut Series events remain with races slated for Saturday, August 7th and Saturday, September 4th.

The ShootOut top drivers in all divisions will be honored at the Showdown events later this fall.
